OUR MISSION
To provide quality education in drama and theatre for the young people of Shaw and surrounding areas and bring through the next generation of actors, directors and volunteers to Crompton Stage Society.
OUR VALUES
OUR OFFER
We cater for young people who want to pursue a career in theatre and for those who want to just raise their confidence, make new friends and act for fun.
Training is provided by a fully qualified drama facilitator.
We offer tuition in many forms and schools of drama including comedy, improvisation, Shakespeare, issue based, devising, script, specific theatre practitioners, contemporary performance to name a few!
The theme changes every term with a Showback at the end to showcase the skills learnt.
We put on a full scale production every other year with the full force of the theatre's resources behind it. All production costs are covered by PH2Youth - only the usual termly fees apply.
In the years in between the production, we offer LAMDA group examinations FREE OF CHARGE and optional individual examinations which have to be paid for separately.
We occasionally offer additional workshops provided by outside agencies and are often able to fund or part-fund these through PH2Youth for existing students.
We offer open auditions to eligible students for our adult society – Crompton Stage Society – when we need actors under 18 years of age. So far our students have been involved in:
A Little Local Difficulty
The Vicar of Dibley
Improbable Fiction
Separate Tables
The Vicar of Dibley - The Second Coming
Daisy Pulls it Off
A Christmas Carol
The Railway Children
OUR EXPECTATIONS
Students attend as many workshops as possible, especially during production and LAMDA terms.
All young people understand our mission and values and follow them.
Trust us. Our team understand what is suitable for your child and that we always try to be as equal and fair as possible. Casting is never based on 'favourites' or who is 'best' for the role. Our casting is always based on what is best for your young person and we see them as unique individuals.
ABOUT US
Apart from our paid drama facilitator, PH2Youth is run by volunteers. Please bear this in mind if communication is not as prompt and efficient as you might expect although we really do try our best to provide a professional service. If you would like to help out we are always looking for people to support us in different ways.
PH2 Youth has been running since January 2013. The first youth theatre facilitators were Becky Proudfoot and Matt Baker. Imogen Brown took over in autumn 2017 and Clare Bennett started in Autumn 2021. We currently cater for three age groups (6-9, 10-13, 14-18), with one session for each age group on Saturday mornings. Workshops run termly and each term consists of 10 workshops with a showback on week 10 when we invite families and friends to watch a short presentation of what the students have been working on. Within a short space of time our numbers have increased rapidly and there is now a waiting list for some age groups.
